Lake Texoma Striper Fishing Blog

Texoma Thanksgiving

Posted on November 26, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I have a lot of things to be thankful about this Thanksgiving. I’m engaged to a wonderful woman, I’ve started a successful guide service, and we just closed on our first house toady. I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to all of you that have gone fishing with me, read my reports, and helped to spread the word to help make Stripers Inc. a success.

Lake Texoma is on fire right now. The fish are biting all day long every day all over the lake. Multiple groups of birds are working the lake in all areas with few boats chasing them. The fish have made drastic improvements in their girth in the past couple of weeks. There are a lot of fat and healthy 18-22” fish starting to show up. We’ve been starting our trips using bait on anchor at around 40 ft. and fishing down about 30ft. Our limits are coming fairly quick in about an hour to an hour and a half if you pick through the small and skinny fish. Afterwards, we switch to lures and chase the birds in search of a big fish. 4-5” glow sassys with chartreuse spiked tails with a variable retrieve have been lethal. We’ve been catching a good fish of around 8-12lbs on almost every trip the last few days when we’ve been able to use lures.

My winter special will start Tuesday Dec. 1st and run through the end of February. Winter rates will be $100/person (3 person minimum). Trips will consist of a minimum of 4 hours on the water with your catch cleaned and the read meat removed. Discounts will still apply. Children 12 and under as well as active military are ½ price when accompanied with 2 full price adults and C&R trips will receive 10% off.

In Gratitude,
Brian
