Colorado Rocky Mountain Trout Fishing

Last summer I took a trip to Colorado Rockies to trout fish. We camped out on the bank of the headwaters of the Arkansas River. It was some of the most clean and pristine country that I had ever experience. We were right on the water and every morning we would wake up and put our waders on and walk down to the river. While it was 100° in Texas, these 50° mornings were nice. I don’t own a fly rod so I used a light spinning rod with a small rapala. The limit was 5 trout and it didn’t take me too long to catch my limit every morning. I would walk down the bank casting up stream and twitching the bait as it floated back towards me like an injured fish and then BAM I would be hooked up with another big brown trout. Browns are predominantly what I caught but we did catch some rainbows too. I had a blast and I can’t wait to go back.
