For Summer Striper Fishing

Posted on February 16, 2009
June – August

This is my favorite time of the year. If it gets too hot jump in! Fish are trying to cool off during this time and are in deep water. Look for schooling fish on the surface in the middle of the lake in deep water. Also fish structure on the river ledges around deep water.
Use topwaters, sassys, slabs, and bait when you locate the fish. When the fish are up and feeding on the surface, use topwaters, when they go down use your slab. Drop it to the bottom and burn it back to the top, you can not reel too fast. Also try using sassys underneath surfacing fish, and reel fast. Big fish can be caught under large schools of surfacing fish using big sassys or big gizzard shad.
This can be one of the best times of the year to catch a lot of big fish. When you find them you can catch a lot of them.
