Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: 1st Week in June

Posted on June 5, 2009

Lake Texoma elevation is 622.4 and falling. Water temperature is 75°. Most boat ramps are now back in operation, a few still remain under water but should reemerge within the next week or so. The fishing remains phenomenal! Limits are still being caught within the first hour leaving the remainder of the trip to chase trophy fish, catfish, or catch and release. The evening fishing has been just as productive as the morning fishing. I had a 3 boat trip Sunday evening that fished 17 people and a 2 boat trip Monday evening that fished 8 people. My evening trips leave out at 2:00 and everyone had caught their limit within the first hour. We are catching fish as fast as I can take fish off and bait re-bait hooks.

I have been making every effort to stay clear of the boat crowds. The fish have been holding on the ledges just off of the river channel in 40-50’ of water. I have been fishing off of the ledges a little on flat ground to avoid the boats and it seems to be working just as well. Right now fish seem to be biting in the 42-48 ft. range best. I’ve been catching all of my fish with live shad, mostly fished 5 cranks off of the bottom. The bigger fish have started to school up by themselves away from the smaller fish and are becoming easier to target. They seem to be holding in 30-40 ft. of water when I find them.

If you want to come out to target trophy fish June and July are my favorite months to catch big fish because they school up together and when you can catch one, you can normally catch more. I’ve had trips in past years during this time when we caught 30+ fish all over 10 lbs. It looks like there getting ready to school up where I can do that again.

I still have weekends available in June and July is still open. My prices are $125/person with children 12 and under as well as active military are ½ price when accompanied with 2 full price adults. The kids are out of school and its time to teach them how to fish. You can book your trip online at www.stripersinc.com or you can call me anytime at (903)815-1609.
