Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: June 13-15

Posted on June 15, 2009

It is getting hot here in June and the fishing is even hotter. Lake Texoma water temperature is 79° and the elevation is at 620 (1 ft above normal). The fish have moved out in the deeper water. I have been fishing in 60-80 ft. of water on anchor with live shad fished 40-60ft down. Most mornings have been as fast as you can get the bait down. Right now you need to throw an anchor and beat the water with your rod and make as much noise as possible. If you don’t catch anything in about 15 minutes then move and throw another anchor until you get them going.

Saturday morning I fished 6 people. I threw an anchor and was blacked out the whole time. We caught our 60 fish limit in about 45 minutes. We were done by 7:30 and spent the rest of the time catching big fish.

Saturday evening I had 4 people who didn’t care about a limit and wanted to go straight to the big fish. We probably caught 30 fish, only 5 were under 20 in. and the biggest was 11 lbs with a lot of 7-8 lbers. I use circle hooks so all of my big fish are released.

Sunday morning I had a 2 boat trip of 8 people. The fish were not where I had left them the previous morning. I threw a couple of anchors and only managed about 5 fish. No one I talked to was doing better than I was. Finally I got the call around 9:00 “We’re hammering them, come on” we tied 3 boats together and started wearing them out until the wind picked up and the anchor slipped. We never really got them going again but we picked at them until we reached our limit around 10:30. This was the toughest day I’ve had since March.

Monday Morning I have 3 people. My first couple of anchors I only had a few fish and it is starting to look like a repeat of Sunday. My 4th anchor, I found them. I had a good steady bite for an hour. Around 8:30 they really turned on and it got fast. We finished up and went searching for my big fish. They had moved a little on me but we finally found a couple in the 8-10 lb range.
